Boracay Island- The best lechon , Ziplining and Parasailing

The Second island we explored was Boracay, a 50-minute flight from Cebu to Boracay Caticlan with Cebu Pacific airlines. Once we arrived at the airport we had to take a ferry from the one side of the island to the other. Do not take a package deal at the airport even though it is convenient to pay one lump sum, rather pay everything yourself. Save cash where you can.  We made the mistake of taking a package that included the ferry ride, the environmental fee, terminal fee and the taxi fare from the jetty to your hotel. We stayed at Fairways & Bluewater Hotel Newcoast. The resort was absolutely stunning there was a golf course, an infinity pool, and its own private beach. Most days we did not want to leave, there was so much to do on the premises and the hotel was excellent for both adults and children.  We paid 8000  pesos for two nights, this is equivalent to  2000 rand.

Cheers to life

Enjoying our welcome drinks and the warm welcome from the staff at the help-desk. Do not be hasty to book your activities through the hotel. First shop around and speak to the locals to ask them where you should eat and what the normal price ranges are for the activities that you would like to do.

Things we wanted to do :
  • Jump off Ariel's peak
  • Parasailing
  • Ziplining
  • go for massages
  • island hopping
  • sunset cruises
  • try local food
  • do some shopping for souvenirs
  • try the lechon

After speaking to the hotel staff and to the locals we were told that we should try the lechon, it is pork that is made over very hot coals like a spitbraai (barbeque). You will see lechon everywhere on the island, on street corners and  it is served in restaurants. The lechon was so soft and juicy and definitely worth the fuss.

Things we ended up doing :

Parasailing

                                                                   The banana boat
We thoroughly enjoyed being thrown off the banana boat .
Ziplining in the resort

We planned to do more activities but we had limited time. When you go to Boracay rather stay for four to five days as this will allow you to relax and do all the activities in the area. No one wants to be rushed while you are on holiday .

Can you scream awesome ?When will YOU go to Boracay?
Dare to live a life of adventure !!!!!!!

Cebu Island day 2 -Chasing waterfalls and Whale Sharks in Oslob

Day two, We woke up super early as our tour Chenerie Mendez collected us at 5am in our hotel foyer. Oslob is a three-hour drive from our Sarrosa International hotel, our driver drove extremely fast so we managed to do the trip in two hours. We slept, well I slept even though the driver drove like a maniac.
However, we were not bothered as we were super excited to finally get up close with the amazing gentle giants of the ocean. When we arrived in Oslob we first had coffee and mango with sticky rice at a coffee shop on the beach front. There were so many boats just waiting to go into the sea, so each group first had to have a safety briefing before going leaving the shore. We were not allowed to touch the Whales but they can touch us, weird I know. We climbed out the boat one by one and then we just swam around and with them. The Whale Sharks are harmless and only feed on plankton, they grow up to 12m in length and are docile by nature. Hence I call them the gentle giants of the ocean. After swimming with the whales we went on another expedition, chasing waterfalls. We drove for another hour from Oslob to the waterfall. Kawasan waterfalls was a wonderful way to end our day. The clear pool like water was a treat from heaven. We walked a few miles from the car park to the waterfalls, as we were walking the excitement was increasing. As soon as we saw the water we began to undress and immediately jumped into the water. We swam for one hour thereafter lunch was served. We ate a lovely chicken curry served with rice and a pork stew.  We were impressed with the services rendered by Cebu Trip Tours, they can be contacted at 09176278855 and their website is www.cebutriptours.com
This was our last day in Cebu, the next morning we checked out of our hotels and flew from Cebu to Boracay (Caticlan). It was a 50- minute flight.

Cebu Island - Philippines

The first Island on our self made itinerary was Cebu Island, we flew with Air Asia airliner from Manila to Cebu and the journey began . We stayed at Sarrosa International Hotel, we were welcomed with warm smiles and many hellos .  Our main reason for going to Cebu was to swim with the Whale Sharks however we were too late with the booking and hence had to postpone it to day two.
The first item on the itinerary was a city tour.  The tour guide met us at a mall , we then went to a Philippine Taoist temple followed by a visit to the Basilica minore del santo .It is a point of interest as it houses Magellan's cross. The Basilica minore del santo is a pilgrim centre for many catholics  from all over the world. The tour ended with the Cebu heritage monument and the Yap-Sandiego heritage house.

We were amped for day two of the Cebu tour !!!!!

I am leaving for the Philippines tomorrow and Im sick as a dog!!!

My excitement for this trip has significantly been reduced by my cold, being the pharmacist that I am I self medicated in an effort to cure myself before I board the plane tomorrow.

I am vacaydeprived  I have been for seven months. I simply cannot wait  to sip on cocktails while I'm lying on the beach in my bikini.  I cannot wait to swim with the whale sharks , have countless massages and to  jump off cliffs, yes I am an adventure junky. This would be my fifth country that I would visit and I will surely leave my heart behind.

I chose the Philippines because it has been ranked as having the best beaches in the world, it has many islands and it has many outdoor activities that you can choose from. Beside the fact that it is beautiful, it is by far one of the cheapest countries to travel too in the world. This trip was meant to be a solo trip but then my two lady friends joined me. We decided to do some island hopping, Cebu- Boracay and El nido, Palawan. Whether I am sick or half dead I will be boarding that plane tomorrow, nothing will keep me away from this adventure.

Wanderlust is real !!!

I AM PROUDLY AFRICAN

I bought this mini Africa art in Zanzibar during a trip that I did in November 2016. I am proudly South African and I am proudly African . Africa is a continent that is full of potential , we often overlook it's beauty to venture to European and Asian countries. The people are hospitable and they are so humble. They will make you wonder why you haven't travelled earlier to an African country. I have only been to Ethiopia and to Zanzibar thus far , the rest of Africa is on my bucket list .

Africa is a land of possibilities!
Africa is a jewel just waiting to be polished.
Africa is like  coal on its way to becoming a diamond!

The time is ripe for travelling , the time is now !!!!

Have you ever waited for the perfect moment? have you ever waited until you had a huge bank balance? If you did just now that you are not the only one. The truth is , there will never be a perfect time , you will never have enough money and the time will never be perfect. Life is so precious , we have to cherish the time that we have now, while we still have our health and have minimal or no responsibilities.

The RIGHT TIME IS NOW!!
CHERISH THE MOMENT

TRAVEL TODAY, LIFE YOUR BEST LIFE NOW !!!!!
